NC and CNC technology

NC (Numerical Control) is the automation of machines or other similar equipment. These machines are controlled by simple commands, using simple controllers, rather than the handles or levers. The first NC machines were manufactured in 1940 - 1950 years, which were the basis of the existing machines with engines, that manages the process from code generated on the perforated band. These servo mechanisms rapidly evolved and developed to a machines controlled by analog and digital computers, creating a modern CNC (computer numerical control) machine, which has caused a revolution in the treatment process.

In modern CNC systems, detailed design from the beginning to the end is automated in high level, using CAD (computer aided design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) programs. The program creates a computer file, which is processed to get the commands, which manages certain machines via the Post-processor, then the code is entered into the CNC system and the machine performs processing.

As each separate element of process may require the use of a number of different tools - drills, saws, etc., modern machines often combine multiple tools into a single location. Otherwise, a number of different machines are used with an external controller and human or robotic control, which moves the work piece from the machine on the machine. In both cases, sequence of complex steps is needed in manufacturing of any component in order makeing it exactly according to  CAD design.
